RAP AGAINST Festival

Rap Against is a self-initiated culture and music festival that attracted up to 20.000 visitors every year. The project started in 2014 and took place at the centrally located Karlsplatz and its surroundings in Vienna. We offered a varied programme in the world of hip-hop and rap including concerts, graffiti art, breakdance battle, poetry slam and skate sessions. Rap Against consciously positions itself against the glorification of violence and misogyny that exists in some forms of hip hop. Instead, rap is celebrated as a cross-cultural and unifying art form – following the progressive roots of hip hop in the USA of the 70s and 80s.

The program is based on a good mix of established and aspiring artists popular amongst a young audience with diverse cultural backgrounds.
This unique cultural festival attracts an open-minded, urban and cosmopolitan generation adding artistic and social value.
